Learn to Teach the Causes, Impacts, and Solutions for Climate Change

Earn Antioch University New England’s 9-credit Climate Change Education Certificate—online or in person.

Climate change is one of the defining challenges of our time. Antioch University New England’s Climate Change Education Certificate equips educators, practitioners, and community leaders with the skills and knowledge to engage others in meaningful, informed responses to climate change. Beyond communicating the science and impacts, this certificate program explores how emotional, social, and psychological factors shape how individuals and communities understand and respond to climate risks. By examining these dynamics, students learn how to design and facilitate conversations and learning experiences that resonate across diverse audiences. We focus on meeting people where they are and on nurturing curiosity, resilience, hope, and agency as they engage with the realities of a changing climate. This 9-credit program is offered online and in person.

Why Climate Change Education Matters

  • Explain the whole picture. Learners need guidance not only on the causes, impacts, and solutions across local and global scales, but also on how people perceive, emotionally respond to, and process climate-related information.
  • Link science with resilience. Effective climate education and communication link evidence to the psychological and social dynamics that shape engagement, helping learners navigate emotions, build resilience, and recognize their own and others’ capacities to act.
  • Empower action. Strong climate education equips individuals and organizations to respond thoughtfully, advocate responsibly, and lead initiatives with curiosity, hope, and agency.
