Lisa K. Richter ’11 (Los Angeles, MFA) will publish her new book, Fly, My Darling: A Love Story (She Writes Press) on April 21, 2026. It is a lyrical memoir that explores the resilience of love, the weight of loss, and the transformative journey of asking, “What do I really want?”
Inspired by her years with musician and visionary composer Lynda Roth, the book weaves past and present into an intimate narrative of awakened eroticism, profound joy, nearly unbearable grief, and moments of spiritual renewal—all underscored by the enduring presence of music. Fly, My Darling has already received critical acclaim, with Kirkus Reviews calling it “a graceful and spare memoir of personal transformation and loss… a moving tribute to an unconventional person and the love she shared with the author.”

Richter, an American writer and poet, is also the author of the online essay series Searching for the Talisman. Her work has appeared in journals, anthologies, and literary blogs. She previously founded a company teaching computer coding to young people and has lived on the East Coast and in Europe before settling in Southern California.
