Two GSLC Graduates Present Their Research

Ileya Grosman, PhD ‘24, and LauraLynn Jansen, PhD ‘22

Ileya Grosman, PhD ‘24, and LauraLynn Jansen, PhD ‘22, alums of Antioch’s Graduate School of Leadership and Change, presented their research at The University of New Mexico Mentor Institute Conference and published an article in The Chronicle of Mentoring & Coaching titled “Humanizing Moments within the Mentor-Mentee Relationship.”

Their research pushes against Western philosophies that define success as fully independent. They use a Relational Cultural Theory (RCT), a feminist psychology perspective, to explore how space between people offers a place of empathy and empowerment. The article argues that growth-fostering relationships between a mentor and mentee can be meaningful for nurturing bonds while helping each person’s growth, leading to mutual success.
