Susan J. Erenrich to Release New Volume on Music and Grassroots Leadership for Social Change

Susan (Susie) J. Erenrich ’10 (GSLC, PhD) will publish Volume 2 of A Grassroots Leadership & Music for Social Change Primer for Educators, Organizers, Activists & Rabble-Rousers in 2025.

This compelling volume features contributions from authors around the world who are expanding the field of leadership through bottom-up, collaborative, and horizontally-based approaches. It continues a long-standing effort to connect the arts with social change, leadership, and equity.

The publication is made possible by the International Leadership Association, which hosted a monthly guest column series from January 2018 through December 2024. These columns explored the intersection of the arts and social change, promoting more inclusive and diverse forms of leadership.

Volume 2 will include work from approximately 26 contributors, organized into the following thematic categories:

  • Grassroots Leadership & Musical Cultural Activists
  • Participatory Democracy & the Role of Music in Social Movements
  • Topical Songs as a Form of Grassroots Leadership
  • People Power, Community Building & Music for Social Change
  • Tributes to Troubadours & Musicians of Conscience
  • Festivals & Venues: Music, Politics & Resistance
