Sarah H. Seiler, a student in the PhD in Leadership and Change program, presented her research on psychological safety and belonging in volunteer wilderness search and rescue teams at the Syrotuck Symposium in Las Vegas on April 20, 2026. Her presentation, titled “Enhancing Psychological Safety in the High Stress Activities of SAR and Detection,” was delivered alongside her mentor and external committee member, Scott Hammond, PhD. Syrotuck is one of the few research conferences dedicated to search and rescue.
