Preserving Place and Possibility at Ryder Farm

Jules Gibson, Core Faculty in Environmental Studies at Antioch University New England, recently stepped into the role of Board Vice President of Ryder Farm, a 128-acre family farm established in 1785. A new conservation easement now protects the property, recognized as the oldest working farm in Putnam County, New York, and will keep the land free from non-farm development for future generations.

Through Ryder Farm by RE Endeavors, the organization works to share Ryder Farm’s resources, beauty, and potential with diverse audiences: hosting family gatherings, welcoming artists, and supplying hyper-local vegetables to the Hudson Valley region. With wide open landscapes and cozy guest rooms, Ryder Farm retreats give artists dedicated time and space to conspire with nature and with one another, and to generate new work grounded in place.
