Huijun “Nikki” Li, a current Dance and Movement Therapy student in New England, successfully hosted a sold-out workshop event, Dance for Connection, which explored physical connection and kinesthetic empathy through creative movement. This highly accessible workshop was part of Dance Complex of Boston’s Reflection, Healing, and Movement series, and was offered to attendees both virtually and in-person with no dance experience or level of mobility required. The trauma-informed and culturally affirming experience allowed for creative expression and exploration, as well as mindfulness and community building.

“After the workshop, participants reported feeling more connected to themselves and others,” said Li. “Participants also shared that they were left with desire and inspiration for more dance/movement healing practices.”

Li will continue to offer workshops and facilitate local events online and in-person, so that others can use creative expression to find healing, be in community, and move together.
