Kim Langmaid ‘09 (Antioch New England, PhD in Environmental Studies) was named Mayor of the town of Vail, Colorado and will serve a two-year term. She was unanimously elected by her colleagues following a swearing-in ceremony on December 7th, 2021. Langmaid served two terms for the Town Council in 2015 and in 2017, and served as mayor pro tem for two years prior to her recent election. Having been raised in Vail, Langmaid is contributing to the town’s tradition of leadership and is an active founding member of the Climate Action Collaborative for the Eagle County Community, the Eagle County Community Wildlife Roundtable, and the National Forest Foundation and Vail Resorts’ Eagle Valley Ski Conservation Fund Advisory Committee. Juan “Kiko” Suarez ’14
Dr. Juan “Kiko” Suarez ’14 (PhD, GSLC) has been appointed Chief Academic Officer at Huntington Junior College in Huntington, WV. The appointment was made by HJC President Fred Fransen and is an important step in positioning the college for future success. As Chief Academic Officer, Suarez is tasked with growing the college’s academic offerings based on the needs of the local business community and national trends. This is a newly-created position “We are incredibly fortunate to bring Dr. Suarez on board, and are especially excited to draw on his expertise in competency-based learning and credentialing,” said Fransen. Suarez said that
