Dr. Gopal Krishnamurthy, Core Faculty in the New England Environmental Studies and Sustainability Department and Director of the Science Teacher Certification, was the moderator for Protecting the Promise of Public Education, a fundraiser to support Critical Explorers. Critical Explorers is a nonprofit that promotes a vision of education that is centered on learners, invites investigation, relies on the array of complex and fascinating materials inherent in any subject, and structures opportunities for learners to build their skills through challenges that are real to them.

Consuelo Flores ’06, ‘08

Consuelo Flores ’06, ‘08 (Los Angeles, BA, MFA) is a writer member of the Fierce Backbone Theatre Company. Her play, “Imperfect Lives,” is featured in their one-act festival, Think & Imagine. The play explores how labels can adversely affect family relationships. Think & Imagine contains 18 one-act plays and runs the first three weekends in October, October 6th-22nd. Three groups of plays will be presented. Anthony Pennant ’22

Anthony Pennant, LMFT, PhD ’22 (New England, PhD in Couple and Family Therapy), Associate Chair of the Couple and Family Therapy program in Seattle, was featured in the episode Socially Just Family Therapy on an award-winning podcast Coping 101. Presented by C89.5 in partnership with Seattle Children’s, Coping 101 is an ongoing series led by students in Nathan Hale High School’s Radio class that destigmatizes mental health from a teen’s perspective, made possible with support from Crisis Connections, Carter Subaru, Hansmire Builders and Audian. Atim Eneida George ’18

Atim Eneida George ’18 (GSLC, PhD) has received a Fulbright Specialist Program award. George will complete a project at Lead City University in Nigeria that aims to exchange knowledge and establish partnerships benefiting participants, institutions, and communities both in the U.S. and overseas through a variety of educational and training activities within American (U.S.) Studies. George is one of over 400 U.S. citizens who share expertise with host institutions abroad through the Fulbright Specialist Program each year. Antioch alums Laura Thomas, Alex Venet, and John Thomas spent a week at Skywalker Ranch connecting with other fantastic educators. The George Lucas Educational Foundation – Edutopia – reaches over 8 million educators, with a focus on sharing what works as defined by teachers and research in classrooms. Connection is a vital part of education, and Antioch University is dedicated to building communities of mission-driven educators who are preparing their students to take on the world! Greg Belliveau

Online undergrad faculty member Greg Belliveau recently had his book Gods of IMAGO, the second installment of his dystopian book series IMAGO, published by Rogue Phoenix Press on August 23, 2023. Belliveau is an award-winning novelist and author of IMAGO (Rogue Phoenix Press, 2019) and Go Down To Silence (Multnomah Publishing: a Division of Penguin Random House, 2001), which was a Christy Award Finalist for Best First Novel and a collection of creative nonfiction entitled Seeds: Mediations on Grace in a World with Teeth (Crosslink Publishing, 2017). Scott Carnz ’97

Scott Carnz ’97 (Seattle, MA) was named Provost by LIM College, which is exclusively focused on the business of fashion and lifestyle. Carnz, whose appointment was effective August 21, joins LIM from City University of Seattle where he served as Provost since 2019. In his new role, Carnz will serve as the chief academic officer of LIM College and will be responsible for establishing and sustaining the highest standards of academic excellence in all teaching, curricular, and academic co-curricular activities.
