Consuelo Flores

Consuelo Flores ’06, ‘08 (Los Angeles, BA, MFA) was showcased in a KCET story on the 50th Anniversary Biennial Paper Fashion Gala & Runway Show which featured 13 designs of wearable paper fashion inspired by prints selected from Self Help Graphics’ vast archive.

Flores, a legacy artist, took inspiration for her piece from Pat Gomez’s 1991 print “War Stories,” and Marissa Magdalena Sykes who took inspiration from Shizu Saldamando’s 2008 print “Class Notes: A.K.A. What I Learned in Art School” for her design.

The Paper Fashion Gala was part of a celebration of 50 years of art and culture making for Self Help Graphics & Art, a nonprofit dedicated to the production, interpretation and distribution of prints and other art media by Chicana/o and Latinx artists.
