Congratulations to Amy Lesen, PhD, Professor of Environmental Leadership and Participatory Change in Antioch University’s Graduate School of Leadership and Change, on the publication of a new co-authored article, “Converging Together to Confront Multiple Intersecting and Cascading Disasters: A Network of Mutual Aid Approach.”

Published in Disaster Prevention and Management: An International Journal, the article explores how communities can work together to respond to overlapping disasters while advancing environmental and social justice. Drawing on the work of Louisiana’s Disaster Justice Network, the authors highlight how collaboration among community leaders, researchers, advocates, and organizations can strengthen disaster preparedness and recovery.

The research emphasizes the importance of community-driven solutions, shared knowledge, and mutual aid in addressing systemic inequities and building more resilient communities. It also offers lessons for creating more equitable and effective responses to future disasters.

Congratulations to Dr. Lesen and her co-authors on this important contribution to disaster resilience and environmental justice research!
