Supporters of a food co-op in Keene, NH, showed up in force at this 2009 Keene City Council Meeting to urge the council to approve an appropriation to fund the Co-op’s market study.
Antiochians in attendance included:

- Sandy Hamm (former New England staff)
- Dave Morrill ’09 (New England, MBA)
- Beth White ’03 (New England, MS)
- Jess Boynton ’10 (New England, MS)
- Bonnie Hudspeth ’08 (New England, MS)
- Meg Fairchild ’09 (New England, MS)
- Amanda Maurman ’07 (New England, MS)
- Jen Risley ’04 (New England, MEd)
- Amanda Littleton ’07 (New England, MS)
- Jeff Littleton ’05 (New England, MS).
The council approved the item, and the project went on to become the beloved Monadnock Food Co-op.
The Co-op has its origins in a Master’s Project undertaken by Hudspeth and Katie (Stoner) Hallas ’08 (New England, MS). “I didn’t want to write a thesis that would sit on a shelf,” says Hudspeth in a recent story on Common Thread. “I wanted to do something that would actually make a tangible difference.” The Monadnock Food Co-op and other local businesses are currently being featured in an exhibit at the Historical Society of Cheshire County that showcases the impact of Antioch’s New England campus on the greater Keene community.
