Yulia Tolstikov-Mast, teaching faculty in the Graduate School of Leadership and Change, was a guest speaker for the World Council on Intercultural and Global Competence.
Speaking for the Graduate Student Group, which is dedicated to supporting graduate students in intercultural and global competence work, Tolstikov-Mast’s session, “Uncovering Authentic Cultural Knowledge: Research Integrity Beyond Western Standards,” explored research practices through an international lens.
A global leadership and followership expert, Tolstikov-Mast focuses her teaching, scholarship, and consulting on internalizing leadership curriculum, non-U.S. (Global North) approaches to leadership, worldwide followership and citizenship behavior, leader-follower role switching, and international professional communication. She advocates for culturally responsible and indigenous leadership and followership research models. Her collaborative workbook, The Handbook of International and Cross-Cultural Leadership Research Processes, offers action steps for researchers engaging in international research practices, reflecting her commitment to transforming passion into practice.
