PhD in Leadership and Change student Shelita Birchett Benash, MSW, is a Board Member-at-Large and Marketing Committee Co-Chair for the International Association for Social Work with Groups (IASWG), the premier international association for social workers and allied helping professionals engaged in group work.
Remotely, she led the digital literacy and social media engagement campaign for the IASWG International Symposium 2024 in Madrid, Spain. Birchett Benash’s abstract, Mindfulness Adult ESL and Health Literacy Ebook Project, won a 2023 IASWG SPARC Award and was selected for a poster presentation at the ICM:2024 International Conference on Mindfulness, which was hosted by the Mindfulness Network and Bangor University in the UK, Wales. Birchett Benash shared grass-roots social work group work, and community-engaged relational mindfulness research with vulnerable populations in person at the ICM international conference in August 2024.
