Maya Townsend Co-Publishes First Peer-Reviewed Article

Maya Townsend

PhD in Leadership and Change student Maya Townsend, had their first peer-reviewed article, co-authored by Sjoerd Romme, “The Emerging Concept of the Human-Centered Organization: A Review and Synthesis of the Literature” published by Humanistic Management Journal.

As Romme wrote: “We review and synthesize the literature in order to offer an integrated model of the human centered organization and develop a conceptual framework that can drive future research in this area.” Human-centered organizations meld humanistic values with a common good purpose, team structure, participatory tools and techniques, and meaningful work.

The need for human-centered organizations became apparent during the pandemic, when many organizational leaders were moved to focus on employee health, safety, and well-being. In a human-centered organization, values such as dignity, well-being, and justice form the framework to create a positive experience on the job.

Townsend is the founder and lead consultant of Partnering Resources.
