Ken Williams Publishes New Research on School Climate and Gender

Ken Williams, Professor of Leadership, Organizational Change and Learning, Antioch University’s PhD in Leadership and Change program, has published a new peer-reviewed article in the Journal of Research in Comparative and International Education titled “School Climate Inside St. Vincent and the Grenadines Schools: Examining gendered patterns.”

Drawing on a national school climate survey in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the study compares boys’ and girls’ perceptions of their school environment. The analyses found few gender differences at the individual item level, but revealed significant differences on four of eight school-climate scales, each reaching a medium effect size. The article discusses strengths and growth areas for the country’s school system, offers considerations for government efforts to improve school climate, and points toward future research that more fully incorporates student voice.
