Eduardo Martinez Receives Graduate Excellence in Teaching Award

Eduardo Martinez ’83 (Antioch, MA) recently received the 2024 Graduate Excellence in Teaching Award from American Public University. The award recognizes outstanding faculty and staff members who have demonstrated excellence in teaching and service.

Martinez is a graduate of the Antioch Center for Legal Studies, then located in Washington, DC. After working in the U.S. Agency for International Development in the Latin America and Caribbean Bureau, he joined the Navy and served aboard an amphibious ship for his initial tour in the Pacific. Following this, his Antioch experience led him to apply to law school. He is an attorney licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in Mississippi, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He served as a special assistant attorney general and retired from the Navy as a captain.

Martinez currently teaches intelligence and homeland security courses at American Public University in the School of Security and Global Studies. He is knighted in the Order of St. George, an international humanitarian organization.

Martinez earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas, his master’s degree from Antioch University, his master’s in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College, and his law degree from the Mississippi College School of Law.
