Dana Kedziora ’10 (New England, MS in Conservation Biology) has taken her passion for the outdoors and hiking and put it to use helping others. She started by joining the 501c3 nonprofit Hike for Mental Health in 2018 and climbing the 10.2-mile round trip up the Jewell Trail on Mt. Washington in Bretton Woods, NH, to raise awareness and funds for the cause. Since then, Kedziora’s role as a hiker has expanded to include being a volunteer and organizer of this event, which raised $33,000 from this hike alone last year. This climb, coupled with others across the nation, raised over $110,000 last year and just over $1 million since its inception in 2011—with 100% of the funds generated (80% to mental health research/support, 20% hiking trail maintenance) going toward their mission.
