Anne Liu Kellor ’06 (Los Angeles, MFA) is the editor of Mixed Roots: Writers on Multiracial Identity & Both/And Belonging, forthcoming from Beacon Press on October 13, 2026. This anthology features 29 writers whose personal narratives address multiracial identity through themes such as family, migration, language, ancestry, racism, trauma, healing, and belonging.

Approximately half of the contributors are former students from Kellor’s Both/And: Reading and Writing the Mixed-Race Experience workshop or members of her broader writing community. The anthology also includes established writers such as Savala Nolan, Faith Adiele, Grace M. Cho, and Malaka Gharib.

The book has received advance praise from writers such as Pulitzer Prize winner Tessa Hulls, Melissa Febos, and award-winning poet Naomi Shihab Nye. Hulls describes the anthology as “a gift for anyone who lives within the both/and,” and Febos calls it “an unprecedented ode to the wide range of mixed-root experiences and what is shared across difference.”
