Antioch Alumni and Faculty Present at National Family Therapy Conference

Antioch University was well represented at the 2026 Systemic Family Therapy Conference, hosted virtually by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) on October 8–9. Two alumni of Antioch’s PhD in Couple and Family Therapy program and current faculty members shared research addressing important issues in contemporary therapy and mental healthcare.

Alumni presenters included:

  • Leury Peña, PhD, LMFT, who presented “Rethinking Familismo in Latine Family Therapy.”
  • Seon Kim, PhD, LMFT, who presented “Moderating Effects of Videoconferencing: Alliance and Outcome in SUD.”

Faculty presenters included:

  • Stephanie Cooke, PhD, LMFT, and Mary Cate Komoski, PhD, who presented “Queer Therapists’ Perceptions of Police and Crisis Response.”

Their presentations reflect the breadth of scholarship and practice within Antioch’s Couple and Family Therapy community, exploring culturally responsive care, technology in therapeutic relationships, and crisis response approaches. Congratulations to our alumni and faculty for contributing to these important conversations in the field!
