Unzila Chowdury Named Director of Development at Laal, Advancing Support for Bangladeshi Immigrant Women in the Bronx

Unzila Chowdury ’24 (MA, GSLC) has been named Director of Development at Laal. Chowdury drives the organization’s groundbreaking work in providing essential resources and support to underserved Bangladeshi immigrant women in the Bronx, New York.

Before joining Laal, Chowdury worked in business development at the intersection of multifamily affordable housing and clean energy, focusing on sustainability and equity in housing initiatives. She also contributed to community-driven economic development through her role at a Community Development Financial Institution. As a CORO NY Workforce Leadership Fellow, she demonstrated her ability to navigate complex systems and drive meaningful workforce transformation.

Chowdury’s career is rooted in a deep commitment to social equity, advocacy, and creating lasting impact. She has extensive expertise working with underserved and marginalized populations, including formerly incarcerated individuals, Native American governments, and unhoused communities.
