Marc Stallion ’20 (Los Angeles, MFA) recently completed production on his feature film Ripple, an independent drama inspired by the life and experiences of Isaac Bailey, a speaker and advocate who lives with a stutter.
Ripple follows a young journalist with a severe stutter who is forced to confront family trauma, identity, and the lasting effects of the past while investigating a story connected to his incarcerated brother. The film explores themes of communication, resilience, healing, family, and the courage required to find one’s voice in a world that often misunderstands difference. Written, directed, and produced by Stallion, the project brought together a diverse team of artists, including emerging performers and collaborators from educational and independent film communities. The production aims to increase awareness and understanding of stuttering while highlighting the emotional experiences of those who live with it.
“Isaac Bailey’s advocacy and willingness to share his experiences provided the emotional foundation for the film,” said Stallion. “As an Antioch graduate, I continue to draw upon the University’s emphasis on social justice, storytelling, and community impact in my creative work. RIPPLE represents years of development and a commitment to creating meaningful art that encourages empathy and conversation.”
