Kathy Hoffman ’22

Kathy Hoffman ‘22 (GSLC PhD) has been appointed as an Advisor in the Director’s Office of the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. She joined the agency in 2018. In her new role, she will provide policy, analytic, research, and legislative management advice and support to the Director and executive leadership on policy issues affecting the agency, primarily focusing on ergonomics, worker’s compensation, and post-COVID-19 work scenarios.

Before her current position, Hoffman was the first Research Manager at the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board, where she established the agency’s inaugural research program. She collaborated extensively with universities and partners to shape the program and its research direction.

Hoffman was previously the Agency Policy and Rules Manager for the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board, overseeing policy and legislative development for various products. With 18 years of experience as a civil litigation paralegal, she has also handled a diverse range of cases in both private and public sectors.

Torin Finser Speaks at a Conference in Brazil

Stacey Guenther ’22

Stacey Guenther ’22 (GSLC, PhD) was awarded an International Humanistic Management Fellowship from the Humanistic Management Association. She presented at the N2 Conference – The Noosphere at 100: The Future of Human Collective Consciousness at UC Berkley on November 17-19. Her talk was titled “From Me to We: Accessing Collective Consciousness in Groups.” Guenther is a leadership coach, consultant, educator, and contemplative scholar. Learn more about her work here. Billie Groom

PhD in Leadership and Change student Billie Groom recently authored The Connection Between the Canine-Guardian Bond, Cognition, and Behavior to Improve the Welfare of Domestic Dogs through The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. The piece highlights the need to provide caregivers/volunteers with advanced education and resources to address the emotional and cognitive needs of domestic canines to prevent surrender, euthanasia, and harmful actions, which can have negative repercussions on the caregiver. Groom is a Canine Cognitive Behavior Therapist and CEO of UPWARD Dogology.
