Two faculty members from Antioch University’s Seattle Campus Counseling Division, Bernell Elzey and Taylor Sweet-Cosce, presented at the 2025 National Counselors for Social Justice (CSJ) conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico, this April. The CSJ conference brought together counselor educators, practitioners, and advocates committed to dismantling systemic barriers and advancing equity through personal and collective activism.
Elzey, Faculty in the counseling division and Program Director of Seattle’s CMHC program, shared his expertise across three impactful sessions: A Strength-Based Approach: Culturally Sensitive Counseling Techniques for African American Adolescents, Advocacy with Marginalized Populations Panel, Fostering Equity in Career Counseling: Integrating Erikson’s Human Development and Multicultural Competence.
Sweet-Cosce, Core Faculty in the School of Counseling, Psychology, and Therapy (CPT), Counseling Division, focused her session on renewal and self-preservation: Counselors and Counselor Educators: Centering Community, Renewal, and Self-Preservation Amid Increasing State and Federal Legislative Pressures.
Their participation reflects Antioch’s enduring commitment to social justice in counselor education, uplifting marginalized voices through clinical excellence, advocacy, and research.
