Anastasia Ashe, PsyD, has published a review of somatic-based strategies in therapy. The article, titled “Somatic Work in Couple Therapy” was published in The Family Journal on June 10.
The review highlights somatic-based strategies’ effectiveness in improving emotional connections and trauma resolution. It draws from various therapeutic approaches and emphasizes the importance of somatic awareness. This review examines the integration of somatic strategies in couple and family therapy and highlights effectiveness in enhancing emotional connection and trauma resolution. Additionally, it discusses the role of somatic awareness and bodily cues in therapy and identifies the significance of tailoring techniques based on clients’ attachment styles. The review advocates for including somatic training in therapeutic curricula by demonstrating that somatic interventions improve therapeutic outcomes and relational bonds.
Ashe is a licensed marriage and family therapist and also a full-time teaching faculty member at Antioch University’s Santa Barbara location. Ashe’s academic focus includes teaching and providing faculty support for new students preparing and adjusting to the start of their new program.
