Faculty Deb Kachel Organizes Rally to Restore Previously Cut School Librarian Positions

Rally to Restore Previously Cut School Librarian PositionsAntioch Affiliate Faculty, Deb Kachel, Pennsylvania School Librarians Association (PSLA) Advocacy Committee Co-Chair, was a key organizer of a rally at the School District of Philadelphia PA administration building, the objective for which was to restore previously cut school librarian positions. Over 150 demonstrators participated to protest funding school library cuts and to hear speakers that included two senators and two representatives.

Kachel has worked for several weeks with the state library organization, Pennsylvania School Library Association, to organize the event. Attendees said speakers and drive-by “honkers” supporting the rally brought enthusiastic backing for state funding for reinstating school librarians in schools.
