Cary M. Hamilton, Director of Play Therapy, joined nine students from Antioch’s Play Therapy program at the Annual Association for Play Therapy (APT) International Conference in Houston, Texas. The APT Conference is recognized as a leading gathering for professionals across the field, offering advanced post-graduate training, opportunities for collaboration, and a vibrant exchange of ideas.
Cary presented a session titled “No Surrender: Using the Therapeutic Power of Play to Combat Burnout in Play Therapists.” Her presentation examined how play therapy tools and approaches can help address burnout and compassion fatigue, common challenges faced by helping professionals. The session emphasized practical, restorative strategies for self-care and well-being, guiding participants in developing a personalized “playful wellness plan” designed to support their ongoing resilience.
We celebrate Cary and our students for their contributions to the field and for representing Antioch’s commitment to advancing healing, creativity, and professional growth within therapeutic practice.
