A discussion, “Creating Community Gardens – Adapting to Climate Change Through Local Food Initiatives,” will be held at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, in the Community Room at Antioch University New England (AUNE).
Susan Baron, Anna Cynar, Robin Colt, and Libby Weiland, members of the Community Garden Connections (CGC) team and Environmental Studies master’s students, will talk about food security in Keene, the CGC initiative and how you can get involved.
Even as a small city in New Hampshire, Keene faces health and food security issues that will be compounded by climate change. AUNE’s CGC seeks to address food security through community gardens and educational programs in Keene. The CGC team will work with partnerships between Keene Housing Authority and Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and between Keene Recreation Center and Early Sprouts to start two community gardens this spring.
The discussion is free and open to the public. It is part of a series called Carbon Counts: You Can Too, sponsored by the Sustainability and Social Justice Committee at AUNE.
