Sheri Kent graduated from the Antioch University Santa Barbara BA program with a concentration in Child Development & Education in June 2015 and then enrolled as a student in the Graduate Education and Teacher Credential program.
Sheri is one of Antioch’s adult learner students, returning to school to finish her BA after being out of college for more than 20 years. She had previously attended Ohio State University for three years.
“Being a non-traditional returning student is scary,” Sheri said. “But Admissions made it really easy for me to believe I could complete my degree here. There has been such an outpouring of love and support to me.”
Sheri was attracted to AUSB because of our social justice mission and values. “Antioch’s core values – that are reinforced every term – are the most valuable intangible I am receiving,” she said. “It is awesome to be able to develop holistically as a person and be supported in that process while I continue my education and reach for my career goals.”
The people and experience at AUSB have benefitted Sheri’s education. “There are so many valuable pieces to completing my degree at Antioch, but none of these pieces would matter if Antioch University didn’t believe in me,” she said. “I love my classes, my professors, and my classmates! I love the ‘hands-on’ experience I am getting. I am learning so much from my fellow students because the classes are designed to share.
