Ray Sullivan has had success in the high-end real estate market in Santa Barbara, having been a professional in that field for over 16 years. But he has always enjoyed working with individuals and helping to make their lives better. That’s why he enrolled in Antioch University Santa Barbara’s PsyD in Clinical Psychology program.
“I am so glad that I made up my mind to go into the PsyD program,” Ray said. “I can now say that I made the right choice in programs and schools. I have never learned so much in the classroom before.”
He chose AUSB over other schools for a variety of reasons. “I chose to attend AUSB’s PsyD program because I wanted a diverse experience among student peers and the teaching faculty,” Ray said. “I believe this better prepares me to apply real world application from the classroom into my therapy practice. Some of the Antioch faculty are the same professors teaching at other universities. But the added benefit in attending Antioch is that I have a collaboration between students and teaching staff that I would not necessarily get in a different setting.”
Ray described more of the standout qualities of the PsyD program: “Two of the main strengths of the program would be the cohort teaching model and the evaluations and feedback given to students from the instructors,” he said. “This is not a school-business. Antioch really cares about their students and is set on fostering an environment where students really grow into true professionals.”
Ray said that his educational experience at AUSB will stick with him for life. “What I am learning has taken root in me and will naturally continue to shape my career aspirations as I serve people,” he said.
He has high goals for his career in clinical psychology. “My goals upon completing the PsyD program at AUSB are ever changing, but I have a desire to open a private practice one day,” said Ray. “More importantly, I hope to make a contribution in the field of psychology that outlives me.”
