Sobel and AUNE Alumna Highlighted in Globe Story

AUNE’s David Sobel, core faculty in the Department of Education and a leading expert on  nature-based childhood education, was interviewed extensively for A Fresh Idea: Why Outdoor Classrooms Are so Good for Kids?, the cover story for the Boston Globe’s education issue, published Sunday, October 6.

Written by Melanie Plenda, the story also quotes two alumna from AUNE’s Department of Environmental Studies:  Marilyn Wyzga, MS ’88, coordinator for the New Hampshire Children in Nature Coalition, and Ruthie Ireland, MS ’99, school co-director and teacher at Arcadia Mountain Preschool, Easthampton, Massachusetts.
