Fishel Speaks at PsyD Department Field Supervisors Day

Anne K. Fishel, PhD, associate clinical professor of psychology at Harvard Medical School and director of the Family and Couples Therapy program at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, spoke at the Field Supervisors Day, on Friday, February 22, at Antioch University New England (AUNE). The field day was organized by AUNE’s Department of Clinical Psychology.

Fishel spoke on Technology and Therapy: What Therapists Need to Know in the Digital Age, during a continuing education presentation. She  explored uses and frequencies of technology from a developmental perspective, looking at families with infants, toddlers, and school-aged, adolescent, and college-aged children. Fishel and the participants  discussed ethical dilemmas of technology use and ways that therapists can use technology to enhance their clinical work.

Fishel wrote Treating the Adolescent in Family Therapy: a Developmental and Narrative Approach. She co-writes a blog on the Psychology Today website called The Digital Family. She is co-chair of the technology interest group for the American Family Therapy Academy and is an editor for the Harvard Review of Psychiatry.

The field day  included a mid-year traineeship review. Participants can earn three hours of continuing education credits.
