PsyD Collects Record Amount at Day of Service Event

For its Day of Service fundraiser on April 24, the Clinical Psychology Department collected $439.00, within one hour, from the ethnic food/baked goods sale and music entertainment, the most collected from any department food sale.

My heart-felt thanks go to the music/singing performers, those who cooked, baked, and filled up the food tables, those who set up the event and cleaned up, and those managed the money box, said Gargi Roysircar. The services were all volunteered for PsyD’s Day of Service during Earth Week. She said she is very pleased with the talents and cooking skills of the first-year PsyD class.

Of the proceeds, $250 will be given to Hundred Nights Inc. and another $250 to sponsor a child with the Haiti PID clinic, where Disaster Shakti provides mental health services in the summer. With money left over from the winter holiday food sale, PsyD can support thelocal homeless shelter as well as one child with an international NGO.

Gargi thanked the guests, including Judy Jones, President Steve Jones’ wife, who brought a covered dish to the fundraising event.

International Day of Forests

“If you love a tree, you will be more beautiful than before!” – Amit Ray.

This year, the theme for the International Day of Forests, “Forests and Health,” is an invitation and an opportunity to reflect on what these expansive ecosystems do for us and how we can, in turn, serve them through conservation, species preservation, mindful nutrition, and ecological awareness.
