Environmental studies grad Peter Wellenberger was recently honored with the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration’s Dr. Nancy Foster award. The award recognizes his three decades of work in habitat conservation at the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Greenland, NH. Peter was one of the individuals who helped establish the reserve in 1989 and has managed it since 1990. Currently the reserve protects 10,235 acres of salt marsh, mudflats, upland forest, freshwater wetlands, and coastal rivers.
