Green jobs made up about 2.4 percent of total employment in the United States in 2010, according to a U.S. Department of Labor report highlighted in the March 22 Bloomberg BusinessWeek. Those jobs employ at least 3.1 million American workers, the first-of-its-kind report said.
Vermont had the highest proportion of green jobs—4.4 percent—and California had the most total.
