Mariela Marin Awarded 8th Annual Award for Excellence in Teaching

Antioch University Santa Barbara awarded degrees at its annual Commencement Ceremony on Friday, June 15, 2018. Family and friends of the 117 graduates celebrated after the ceremony that was held at a beachside hotel.

In addition to celebrating the graduates, AUSB awarded faculty member Mariela Marin with the 8th Annual Award for Excellence in Teaching. Over the span of 9 years at Antioch University Santa Barbara, Mariela has mentored well over 800 students. During the academic year 2017-2018, she taught a range of courses including Multicultural Awareness, Group Psychotherapy, and Clinical Skills.

Mariela’s extraordinary contributions to our Latino Mental Health Concentration have been critical for the sustainability of this unique concentration and have been deeply appreciated. She continually inspires students and clearly embodies the learner-centered teaching style we hold dear. Through her work as the Executive Director of the Community Counseling and Education Center, she has also provided outstanding clinical training opportunities to Antioch students.
