Get Outside! Join AUNE and NH Parks at Monadnock State Park May 5

Come join the Monadnock Ecological Research and Education Project (MERE), in partnership with the New Hampshire Department of Parks, for a day of hiking and exploring at Monadnock State Park on May 5. During Get Outside Day! MERE staff will be on hand to talk about natural history and outdoor safety, and to lead short activities with children.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Monadnock State Park Headquarters Visitor Center in Jaffrey, New Hampshire. The activities are free; the state park entrance fee is $5.

MERE was started by Antioch University New England (AUNE) in 2007 to help people learn about and appreciate Mount Monadnock through ecological research, monitoring, and educational outreach.

“We are hosting this day to help foster people’s appreciation for what is on the mountain,” said Peter Palmiotto, MERE’s director and professor of environmental studies at AUNE. “There are numerous natural communities and natural wonders that make the mountain special. We, the MERE staff, will be there, pointing them out, with the goal of enhancing visitors’ experience of the mountain.”
