Dr. Martha Straus Hosts “Shrink Rap” Film Series

Professor and author Dr. Martha Straus is hosting a film series called “Shrink Rap,” which debuted on June 7. Each of the films, “Prime” (Meryl Streep), “Deconstructing Harry” (Woody Allen), “Spellbound” (Hitchcock), and “Lars and the Real Girl” (Paul Schnieder), features a different kind of therapist/patient relationship.

Dr. Straus will introduce each film and, following the film, will facilitate an informal conversation about the treatment as portrayed in the movie as well as broader questions of therapeutic boundaries, insight, and transformation. The remainder of the schedule is as follows:

Susan M. Quigley, PsyD and Elaine F. Campbell, PsyD, both graduated from Antioch New England’s Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program in 1999. They supported each other through their studies and collaborated on their doctoral dissertations. Over the years they’ve maintained a professional exchange and friendship that is a testament to its beginnings at Antioch.
