Disaster Shakti Heads to Haiti in May

Volunteers with Antioch University New England’s (AUNE) Disaster Shakti will go to Haiti in May to provide counseling services to Haitians still recovering from the January 2010 earthquake. The volunteers will spend at least one week serving the Partners in Development Medical Clinic in Blanchard, a neighborhood in Port Au Prince.

Disaster Shakti is a volunteer team of doctoral clinical psychology students who use their education to help disaster survivors. In Haiti, the volunteers will also meet with local recovery organizations to learn about successful relief activities and to share their own disaster counseling work.
