Kathi Borden and Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-NH
Kathi A. Borden, Ph.D., professor and chair of the Department of Clinical Psychology, recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with New Hampshire’s senators and congressional representatives to advocate for the reauthorization of the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act. The act funds youth suicide-prevention programs across the United States, including a statewide New Hampshire grant in which the department’s Center for Research on Psychological Practice will participate over the next three years.
Borden does federal advocacy work as the Northern New England federal advocacy coordinator for the Education Directorate of the American Psychological Association (APA). While in Washington, she also attended the APA Education Leadership Conference, which focused on ethical issues in psychology education and training.
