AUNE Grad Named Earth Month Hero

Matthew Morrisey (MS ’09), a teacher in the Environmental Charter School in Lawndale, California, was recognized as an Earth Month Hero by the Wyland Foundation.

Morrisey earned a master’s in environmental studies and a science teacher certification from the Department of Environmental Studies at AUNE.

Throughout April, the Wyland Foundation and its environmental education partner, Toyota, recognize thirty teachers in Los Angeles County and Orange County in California for their support of environmental education. Each teacher receives $500 for their classroom and a chance to win a $5,000 grand prize.

The nonprofit Wyland Foundation helps people discover the importance of healthy oceans and waterways through public art programs, classroom science education, and live events.
