AUNE Alumna Named a Founding Dean at PSU

Gail Mears, PsyD ’01, has been named founding dean of the new College of Education, Health, and Human Services at Plymouth State University (PSU) in Plymouth, New Hampshire.

Mears has been a member of the PSU faculty since 1999. She is a licensed clinical mental health counselor with more than thirty years of experience in various settings.

The American Mental Health Counselor’s Association gave Mears the Outstanding Counselor Educator of the Year in 2003, and the Presidential Service Award in 2010. She received the Dr. George “Pete” Harris Community Service Award from Genesis Behavioral Health in 2008. She was given the PSU Distinguished Graduate Teaching Award in 2009.

Mears is past president of the American Mental Health Counselors Association, the New Hampshire Mental Health Counselors Association, and the North Atlantic Regional Association for Counselor Education and Supervision.
