AUNE Alum is Named Vermont Principal of the Year

Thomas Ferenc, MEd ’02, principal at Green Mountain Union High School in Chester, Vermont, has been named Vermont’s 2011-12 Principal of the Year by MetLife and the National Association for Secondary School Principals for the State of Vermont.

The award recognizes outstanding school leaders who provide high-quality learning opportunities for students. It is based on personal excellence; collaborative leadership; curriculum, instruction, and assessment; and personalization skills.

Ferenc has been at GMUHS for six years. He earned an MEd from AUNE’s Department of Management. Raised in Greenwich, Connecticut, he earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Southern Connecticut State College. A certified classroom teacher, he has worked as a principal and a superintendent in several states.
