YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio–Three members of the Antioch University Midwest Board of Trustees have recently been recognized for honors and appointments by the University. The Board of Trustees works closely with the president and the executive team to provide governance, management oversight, and philanthropic advancement for the campus.
Marva Cosby, AU Midwest Board Member, Named One of Top Ten Women in Miami Valley
Trustee Marva Cosby was awarded a spot among the 2012 Ten Top Women of Miami Valley. The winners were announced and introduced on stage at the Dayton Women’s Fair at the Dayton Airport Expo Center. Cosby is the retired Director of Human Resources at Eastman Kodak Company, as well as a former adjunct faculty member in the AU Midwest Master’s Degree program where she taught Human Resource Management.
The 2012 Ten Top Women, selected by a panel of judges from the community, is marking its 50th anniversary. Cosby taught at AU Midwest from 2007–2009 and has been a member of the Antioch University Midwest Board of Trustees since 2009.
AU Midwest Board Member J. Thomas Maultsby Appointed Acting President for Dayton United Way
The United Way of the Greater Dayton Area has selected Trustee J. Thomas Maultsby to serve as acting president and CEO after the retirement of Allen Elijah. Maultsby is the owner of Group One Development, LLC, a company that provides multidisciplinary services to clients in government, corporate and nonprofit sectors, and OPOL Publishing, which produces short high quality books in order to promote literacy worldwide.
Tom is known for his service to the community, and his energy and leadership will serve him well in his role with United Way of the Greater Dayton Area,” said Pamela Morris, United Way board chair, in the Dayton Business Journal. The top priority of the Board of Directors was to ensure that the right leadership was in place to grow the campaign in order to meet the growing needs of the community.” The United Way supports local health and human service programs provided by more than 70 partner agencies in Montgomery, Greene and Preble counties.
Maultsby has been a member of the Antioch University Midwest Board of Trustees since 2009.
AU Midwest Board Chair Phil Parker to Service on Governor’s Executive Workforce Board
Ohio Governor John Kasich selected Antioch University Midwest Board of Trustees Chairman Phil Parker as a member of the Governor’s Executive Workforce Board. Parker is the President and CEO of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber focuses on business and economic development, legislative and regulatory issues and other business support services for its business members in the 9-county Miami Valley region. In addition, Parker serves on two active committees of the U. S. Chamber of Commerce.
The Governor’s Executive Workforce Board will advise the Governor and the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation on the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Ohio’s entire workforce system. The majority of the Board directly represents private-industry business, but also included on the Board are representatives from the Ohio General Assembly, local government, a state agency, labor and higher education.
Parker has been a member of the Antioch University Midwest Board of Trustees since 2009 and was appointed Chairman in 2009.
