Antioch University Seattle Names Dr. Dan Hocoy Interim President

Seattle – Dr. Dan Hocoy has been named Interim President of Antioch University Seattle (AUS), Chancellor Felice Nudelman announced today. Dr. Hocoy, who has been serving as AUS’ Provost/Chief Operating Officer since 2014, succeeds Dr. Brian Baird in the role. Dr. Hocoy will begin work at his new position immediately.

Antioch University Seattle is a not-for-profit institution serving adult learners in the Seattle area for 40 years. It is one of five Antioch University campuses located across the country.

“Dr. Hocoy, has the expertise, knowledge, skills – and most importantly the passion – to excel in this role, and I am fully confident that he will build upon the good work of his predecessor and continue Antioch University’s tradition of excellence,” Chancellor Nudelman said.

Dr. Hocoy previously served as Provost and Chief Operating Officer at Antioch-Seattle. Dr. Hocoy has a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Queen’s University in Canada. He is also a graduate of Harvard University’s Management and Leadership in Education executive program and a licensed clinical psychologist. Dr. Hocoy recently served as the Associate Provost at Saybrook University in San Francisco, and has previously been: Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation, Director of International Programs and Diversity, and Chief Student Affairs Officer.

“In my time at Antioch University Seattle, I have seen firsthand the type of teaching and learning make this institution distinctive for adult learners who want to push themselves personally and professionally,” Dr. Hocoy said. “I look forward to working together with faculty, staff, students and the community to continue to move the campus forward, build on our academic offerings, and advance plans to redesign our campus to reflect today’s students and their learning styles.”

Over the past 18 years, Dr. Hocoy has developed innovative pedagogies and formats for academic programs that harness the latest technology and social media advancements. He also has expertise in strategic planning, institutional advancement, as well as charting a direction and comprehensive course of action for a university. With a grandmother from Jamaica, mother from Malaysia, and father from China, and having been a political refugee from Trinidad and Tobago to Canada, Dr. Hocoy has a long-standing commitment to diversity, inclusive excellence, and engendering global perspectives.
