YELLOW SPRINGS, OH, June 2, 2014 – The Antioch University Midwest School of Education has received reaccreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). All of the programs offered in the School of Education are accredited until 2019.
Antioch University Midwest has a very high rate of success among its graduates, as 100 percent of its program graduates passed their Ohio teaching and principal licensure exams in 2013—one of only six schools in the state to be able to make that claim.
“We are thrilled, but not surprised to receive this recognition from CAEP,” said Dr. Karen Schuster Webb, president of Antioch University Midwest. “We strongly believe that excellent teacher preparation is foundational for improved student achievement. Receiving continuing accreditation from CAEP is a welcome acknowledgement of our commitment to our mission to provide high quality training for the next generation of educators.”
The University provides a unique and quality experience in preparing educators. Programs are accelerated and offer working adults the opportunity to earn a teaching license in the following fields: Early Childhood Education Pk-3, Middle Childhood Education 4-9, Adolescent and Young Adult Education 7-12, and Intervention Specialist K-12. The Middle Childhood and Adolescent and Young Adult licenses have concentrations in: Sciences, Integrated Mathematics, Integrated Language Arts, or Integrated Social Studies. A teaching license earned in Ohio can be used as a credential in at least forty other states. The School of Education also offers The Ohio Principal’s licensure program and an Med. with professional concentrations including Teacher Leader and Mentoring and Coaching.
