AUM faculty will provide bachelors level instruction at Sinclair’s Campus in Mason
Yellow Springs, Ohio – Antioch University Midwest (AUM) announced a new partnership with Sinclair Community College in Mason (Sinclair) today, and formally signed an agreement on December 18 that welcomes AUM faculty to teach bachelor’s level courses at Sinclair’s Courseview Campus in Mason, Ohio this spring. The program is designed for Sinclair students who have graduated, or are close to graduating with an associate’s degree, and wish to pursue a four-year degree to meet their career goals and the region’s future workforce needs. The initial offerings will focus on management and data analytics, a rapidly growing field that presents numerous career opportunities.
“This is a deeper relationship as we have worked closely with Sinclair’s President, Dr. Steve Johnson, and the Sinclair at Mason team to design a partnership with the student at the center in a responsible, innovative and cost-effective way to address regional workforce needs without duplicating programs already available,” said Dr. Karen Schuster Webb, AUM’s president. “We have students eager to learn, a community ready to fill the jobs of tomorrow in fields such as data analytics, and the shared responsibility to provide mutually-beneficial opportunities for both of them and ethically grow our economy.”
The new partnership creates a seamless transition for Sinclair students to apply to and enroll in the social justice-focused institution. Antioch University Midwest has numerous undergraduate programs and over 25 years of experience helping adult students learn and succeed. Faculty from AUM will teach both online and on-campus at Sinclair’s Courseview Campus in Mason. Sinclair students who meet admission requirements – having completed at least 60 credit hours and earned a GPA of 2.0 (C) or better – will be granted immediate acceptance to AUM and may enroll at a junior status.
“Our first commitment is always to provide opportunities for our students and to smooth the path to success,” said Dr. Steven Johnson, president of Sinclair College. “This partnership accomplishes both of these goals. We are very pleased to join with Antioch University Midwest and particularly excited to be able to offer these courses at our Courseview campus.”
Sinclair’s comprehensive and formal workforce development programs are focused on IT and cyber security, advanced manufacturing, unmanned aerial systems, defense and aerospace, process improvement, and organizational effectiveness. Students beginning their academic journey at Sinclair may pursue any of the programs or courses offered at AUM, including those developed with Ohio’s workforce needs in mind with concentrations in healthcare administration, data analytics and dyslexia education. Focused on ethical and responsible applications of knowledge, AUM also recognizes the importance of a student’s work and life experience, and grants academic credit for proficiency in key areas related to a student’s occupation, military service or volunteer work.
The partnership agreement takes effect on December 18, and students can begin applying immediately.
