Antioch University Midwest Announces Partnership with Butler and Warren County Educational Service Centers

Partnership enables students to earn a Master’s in Education in just one year

YELLOW SPRINGS, OH—The School of Education at Antioch University Midwest is partnering with the Warren and Butler County Educational Service Centers (ESCs) enabling educators in those districts to earn a Master’s in Education (MEd) in only one year through a blend of online and in class offerings. The superintendents from each ESC recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University to create this new opportunity for educators to advance themselves.

This new offering is designed to serve currently licensed teachers who want to increase their knowledge, skills and career growth opportunities. The accelerated format includes ten different courses, each of which will have three face to face meetings at the Warren County ESC in Lebanon and four online sessions. The face to face sessions will be held Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. It is made possible through an innovative partnership that will allow students to attend classes onsite at the Warren County Educational Service Center in Lebanon.

“This opportunity to partner with Antioch University in offering a master degree in Education for our teachers in such a flexible way creates a great new way for professional advancement” said George Sehi, executive director for university relations for Warren and Butler County ESCs. “Antioch University has a history of providing quality graduate education for the adult population and we are very pleased to add Antioch as the newest member of our university partnership consortium,” he added.

Admission interviews will begin in August at Warren County ESC. Classes will start in January 2015 and students will be able to complete the degree program in December 2015. Educators in Warren and Butler Counties are eligible for a special 30% reduced tuition rate.

“We are very excited about this new partnership,” said Dr. Karen Schuster Webb, president of Antioch University Midwest. “Offering a flexible and accelerated degree program that also works with the busy schedules of adults who are juggling work and family will enable more of them to complete a Master’s program. Establishing partnerships that empower working adults to further their educational goals is an objective that aligns well with Antioch University’s mission of individualized education.”
